Research in albanology needs new resources as well as active collaborators to explore existing and new scientific directions by using proven, modern methods. Much remains to be discovered, therefore the current network initiated by INA welcomes interested and available scientists to join and become full members. For more information on how INA is organized, visit its structure description.

Becoming a member offers one the possibility to take full advantage of all the different services INA offers, such as unlimited access to the virtual library, interaction with the world’s top scientists in albanology, possibility to publish one’s work in INA’s periodical journal (JINA), participation in the congresses and workshops organized by INA, and many others. Albanological structures, as associated members, also stand to benefit greatly from the Network.

Because demonstrating a high level of quality and professionalism in this domain of research is an objective shared by all involved, some selection criteria must be respected. Everyone that meets the following conditions can apply to become a full member:

  • Having published at least five scientific works (articles, books or both) in the domain of albanology or of implicit interest for albanology, of which at least one is written in a language other than the author’s mother tongue.
or
  • Being a member of a state-owned albanological structure

If you have any questions about these criteria please send them using the contact form.

Along with the advantages listed above, membership in INA also comes with certain obligations. All members are required to pay an annual fee, as this constitutes the main source of revenue for INA’s operating costs.

  • Regardless of the member’s nationality, the annual fee is €30 for those who live/work in one of the former eastern Block countries.
  • The fee is €50 for the members of all other countries.
  • The possibility of a reduced rate or a fee exemption (at the most for two consecutive years) exists. Requests for such exemptions must be explained in writing and sent to INA’s directors, who will study them and decide accordingly.

The application to become a member consists of:

  1. The registration form. It can be filled out digitally and sent by email, or printed, filled in by hand and sent by postal mail along with the other documents attached. Signing this form means that the candidate accepts the charter, terms and conditions of the organization, and expresses his/her willingness to contribute to improving the quality of the network.
  2. A short Curriculum Vitae, as well as a full list of publications.

After acceptance of your application by the Board of Directors, you will be sent further information and instructions. The registration process will be final upon payment of the membership fee. Information such as login and password will afterwards be sent to allow access to the restricted member areas.

The documents mentioned above can be sent electronically to info[at]albanology.com or by fax: +49 (0)331 2378582.

Associate members are legal persons (e.g. state-owned albanological or other structures with a demonstrated interest in albanology). The annual fee for these structures starts at €100.

Honored members are chosen by the Board of Directors and are exempt from fees.
